Esker Spirits Distillery: behind the stills.
The Provenance Festival is a fantastic new food and drink event in the North East of Scotland. Designed to showcase great local producers, The Provenance Festival gives us (the producers) a chance to take the floor and shout extra loud about what we do and why. There is also a part of the festival that focuses on our responsibilities to the environment and being a more sustainable business. What is not to love about that?!
Provenance and Esker Spirits.
The provenance of our gins and vodka range is a very important part of Esker Spirits; this goes through everything we do, from the silver birch we use in our spirits to our bottle designs and where the distillery is based.
As a fully operational distillery, tours and tastings aren't a big part of what we do here - but getting involved in something like The Provenance Festival is a unique opportunity for us to give you a peek behind the wooden doors, into distillery life in its raw form.
Esker Spirits Distillery.
So what really goes on at the distillery? In many ways, we have had to learn the hard way as there is no “out of the box” distillery option. We moved from having a micro distillery (shed) at the bottom of the garden to a bigger space with some room to grow in Kincardine ‘O Neil. And this is exactly what we wanted – the experience of building our business while getting our hands dirty in the business of distilling.
The Esker Spirits Distillery is a space that is very much our workspace with very few frills. There are some lovely comfy sofas, some pop-up bars for tasting and testing and some very cool vegan stags’ heads on display.
Have ever wondered what the inside of a small distillery looks like or - even better – smells like (hint: it’s never bad!)? Or what takes up most of our time? Distilling? Bottling? Packaging? Or paperwork??? By opening the distillery to visitors for two weekends during The Provenance Festival, we hope to share the answers to these, and many more, questions.
The Provenance Festival and Esker Spirits.
We want to tell you our story and show you what we have become. You’ll see us at our best, in our own environment, talking passionately about what we do. And there will be a chance to taste and buy our spirits which are, after all, the stars of the show!
The distillery tours and tastings are a ticketed event and spaces are limited to 6 per session. You can purchase your ticket here for any of the below available dates and times.
11am, 1pm or 3pm on Saturday 25 September and Sunday 26 September.
11am, 1pm or 3pm on Saturday 02 October and Sunday 03 October.
