How to Drink Esker Spirits in the Autumn
With the nights drawing in and leaves falling fast, I think we can safely say Autumn is well and truly here. It’s time to get cosy, look out the Winter wardrobe, light the fire and of course… snuggle up with something delicious in your glass.
Traditionally, as the seasons change, some may switch to drinking dark spirits or reach for the red wine. But gin and vodka fans do not despair! These are some of our favourite ways to drink Esker this autumn and keep you cosy in the colder months.
Esker Gold
Our Original Esker Gin enhanced with honey and sweet spice. Subtly sweet, warming and delicious. Our biggest seller every winter, we wish this one had kept us warm at many a Christmas market stall!
Cocktail: Festive Flip
Dessert in a glass! Sweet honey gin complimented with warming nutmeg and silky smooth cream and egg white.
50ml Esker Gold
15ml sugar syrup
1 whole Egg
20ml Double Cream
Freshly Grated Nutmeg
Add all ingredients to a cocktail shaker, “dry shake” first with no ice, then add ice and shake hard once again. Double strain into a small rocks or coupette glass and finish with freshly grated nutmeg!
Esker Valencian Orange Gin
A zingy, citrus gin which uses the natural flavour and colour of Valencian oranges. Ditch the easy-peel satsuma and dive into this instead.
Serve: Winter Gin & Tonic
50ml Esker Valencian Orange Gin
Star Anise
Cinnamon Stick
Orange Zest
Premium Tonic Water
Gently crush then roast the star anise and cinnamon in a dry pan to release aromatics.
Add gin and plenty of ice to a highball glass and top with tonic. Remove spices from the pan and add to the drink. Zest and discard an orange peel to finish.
Cocktail: Chocolate Orange Russian
Nothing quite says Winter like the combination of chocolate and orange. A delicious twist on the classic White Russian.
25ml Esker Valencian Orange Gin
15ml Kahlua or Coffee liqueur
15ml White crème de cacao
20ml Milk
20ml Cream
Add the gin, crème de cacao, cream and milk to your cocktail shaker and shake hard over ice. Pour Kahlua into a rocks glass top with ice then layer your shaken mixture over the top. Garnish with a dusting of chocolate powder and grated orange zest.
Esker Spiced Pear Vodka
Our seasonal Spiced Pear Vodka is a real crowd pleaser! Warm spice compliments sweet pear to create a comforting winter tipple.
Serve: Over ice with ginger ale and garnish with cloves, star anise and a slice of fresh pear
Cocktail: Pear & Cardamom Sidecar
A wonderfully grown up blend of aromatic ingredients.
35ml Spiced Pear Vodka
15ml Cointreau
20ml Fresh Lemon Juice
5ml Sugar Syrup
2 Whole Green Cardamom Pods
Fresh Pear Slice
Start by muddling cardamom pods in the bottom of a cocktail shaker. Add all ingredients and shake hard with ice. Strain into a chilled martini glass and garnish with a slice of fresh pear.
