Living up to our name - Esker Spirits!
When we started the business in 2015, we had no idea how things would work out - we were full of ambition and great plans (all hatched from the distillery shed). At that point, we did know that we wanted to ‘do one thing well’, and that was to make great gin. However, our ambitions have always gone beyond that - hence Esker Spirits.
Fast forward 5 years (how can it be 5?). We now have 5 great gins that all started with our flagship Esker, now in her glorious new bottle. We continue to review and refine our gins - it has always been important for us to use natural ingredients, from the botanicals to the fruit that flavours our Silverglas gins. We continuously look at flavour profiles and count the research and development days in the distillery as some of the best!
What’s next?
Our ambition to ‘do one thing well’ has also evolved. Rather than looking at simply making great gin, we have set our sights firmly on making great spirits! And so we are delighted to reveal the newest additions to our range…
Say hello to our Esker Vodka range - Orange & Pomegranate and Scottish Raspberry!
Our founder, Lynne, has a confession “While I’ve been hiding it well for the past few years, I have always been a vodka girl at heart. I love the clean flavour and the versatility of the spirit. Our Esker Vodka range has a smooth base, distilled with the silver birch sap that goes into all our spirits and we use real fruit to give the spirits their distinctive colour and flavour - including raspberries from Castleton Farm.”
The two flavours (Orange & Pomegranate and Scottish Raspberry) have been inspired by summer and thoughts of sitting under a shady tree, reading a book with a light, icey drink by your side. The weather might not be 100% compliant (yet), but we can dream! There are so many lighter alcohol options for drinks around at the moment - we’re not ready to ditch the alcohol, but it is nice to try something different.
Lynne says: “I really enjoy these vodkas over ice with some soda or sparkling water. They’re like a sophisticated, grown-up cordial.”
