Netflix, gin and snacks...
As the weekend rolls around, there are a few questions we end up asking ourselves:
What are we drinking?
What snacks are in the cupboard?
What are we going to watch?
Of all those questions, the hardest is probably the last one - how many times is too many to watch ‘Goodfellas’? How long is it acceptable to scroll through the options when we could just have put on Goodfellas in the first place?
What we are drinking is usually a simple one - something from the drinks cupboard. It is definitely one of the advantages of being a distiller, you know where to find something great to drink. This weekend we might try something different… but more on that in the next blog!
Snacks… well, this is always a fun decision. Since lockdown, we’ve been trying to do one big shop per week when we can - but that makes the snack decision trickier. How do you know what you will fancy at the weekend?
To save you this agonising decision, we have made life a little easier by curating the Esker Snack Packs. Plenty of research went into making the decision on what to include, in fact, that was probably one of the best jobs during Lockdown! We wanted to bring together some great local brands into one very tasty box. Here is the rundown of what is included:

Mixers - the mixers vary between the packs however they are all produced by the excellent Summerhouse Drinks which are based here in the North East of Scotland. These are super tasty, full of natural ingredients without any artificial colourings, flavourings, sweeteners or preservatives. This all makes them wonderful partners for our gins.
Crisps - who doesn’t love a crisp? That delicious salty crunch that leaves you wanting more… Hmm. We were fortunate enough to be next to Mackie’s of Scotland at a trade event in 2019 where we learned more about the brand (and maybe had a sample or two…). Their crisps are incredibly more-ish - a great crunch, lots of flavour and the perfect partner to an ice cold drink. Two packs might just be enough for a weekend. Might.
Cheese Bites - each Snack Pack comes with two packs of tasty Cheese Bites from Deans of Huntly. Here in the North East of Scotland, we have grown up with Dean’s, they make legendary shortbread. These perfectly-formed, crumbly little mouthfuls are full of flavour. They work really well with the gins, particularly the fruit ones. We are addicted!
Each Snack Pack comes carefully packaged to avoid damaging the contents - there’s nothing worse than a packet of smashed crisps (other than a broken bottle of gin of course). And all of this can be delivered to your doorstep to give you a break from making that agonising weekend snack decision.
