So, how does a gin maker drink gin?

It’s not a trick question!

One of the questions we are often asked when we are out and about doing gin events and markets (in the good old days) is which is our favourite Esker gin, and how do we drink it?  I think it’s probably fair to say that we’ve found ourselves reaching for the gin bottle a little more regularly over the past 10 weeks or so (drinking responsibly of course) and we thought it’s maybe time to share some of our favourite ways to drink Esker Spirits.

Personal favourites.

Steve: I like a strong spirit.  It’s fair to say that I’ve always loved a good Scotch whisky, so when it comes to gin, my serve is the same – keep it neat.  Esker Gold (Honey Spiced) is made to enjoy by itself.  The flavours are warm, not too sweet, and the hint of spice really comes through when you drink it neat.  Over ice is great too, but I like mine neat.  Silverglas Valencian Orange is another favourite neat.  You can add some rosemary for garnish if you like more Mediterranean flavours.

Lynne:  Original Esker Gin, served in a tall glass with plenty of ice and a twist of orange – I guess I like the classics!  I don’t think you can beat a great G&T, and in my view, this is the best one.

A family favourite.

Steve:  We do have a bit of a family favourite – on sunny days, take a pitcher of gin and mixer out to the garden.  It’s the Duthie version of Pimms…  Pick a big pitcher, add your favourite gin, a mixer – it doesn’t have to be tonic – loads of fruit and ice.  Perfect for summer weather (which we’re going to have more of obviously…).

Lynne:  It’s tempting to say that my favourite way to drink it at the moment is hiding in the shed (see the photo - yes, it is Esker blue) to get 5 minutes to myself… but I’m not sure that sends the right message (although I’m sure a few people will relate to that right now!) but seriously, one of the nicest things at the moment is having the chance to enjoy some downtime with the family, particularly at weekends.

Family time has always been important to us, even more so as our daughter starts school this year.  So for me, the best way to drink Esker gin is with the people you love!

Your turn.

We would love to hear from you all as to how you drink Esker Spirits or your favourite Esker Gin, so share your pictures with us on our social media channels, using the #EskerSpirits hashtag!
