Esker Spirits and getting the hang of 2021
So here we are - February already, how did that happen? When I wrote my “whoops, it’s February already” post last year we had no idea of the year that was to come and how it would shape so many aspects of our lives.
When people ask me how the past 12 months have been, it’s such a difficult one to answer! From a business point of view, it’s been a year of mixed blessings - we are missing our friends in the hospitality industry so badly and you, our lovely customers, have continued to support us through our retailers and our online shop which has been incredible. From a team point of view, seeing less of the Esker team has been a big missing - Zoom chats and WhatsApp calls only make up for so much. What a party we’re going to have, once we’re allowed to of course!
Finally, and crucially, from a family point of view, it has been amazing. Being able to spend a load of quality time with the youngest member of Team Esker before she started school last year was such a bonus. And Steve and I had a year to get used to working from home together before we “had” to…
So here we are in February, with all the lessons from the past 12 months under our belts (only this time with home schooling in the mix).
What will this year bring, I wonder? Here’s what I think I can see:
Time for planning - having time to reflect has definitely sharpened our strategic plans
Time for testing and development - probably one of the best parts of the job. I love it when mysterious little bottles of liquid appear in the office with “drink me” on the label
Time for our customers - while we might not be able to physically see you, we’re spending time engaging with you in every way we can: whether through calls, blogs, social media
Time to enjoy an Esker or two - January certainly wasn’t dry in our house, but it’s definitely about quality rather than quantity. Taking the time to enjoy an Esker or two feels like a bit of a luxury. Keep an eye on our social media feeds for an insight into what the team are enjoying right now.
